HOW did they know they'd bury him alive?! And, the guy nearly died in the process-so why would they take such a big risk by allowing him to be buried?! Second, they kidnap a member of the gang who just happens to have a voice identical to Rollin's!! Duh. First, they arrange to dig up a guy the mob buries alive so that they can get him to testify. Again, a bullet to the face should have sufficed, but instead the team members design a complicated plan with plenty of plot holes. In "The Council" (both parts 1 and 2), the IM Force is trying to get mobsters to kill each other as well as getting others to testify against their 'friends'.

After all, if the team was willing to break 1001 laws to get mobsters to kill each other AND the team members always stood a chance of getting caught and killed, why didn't they just shoot the criminal in the face and be done with it?! These episodes were definitely focused solely on entertainment-not on making the shows very plausible. In episodes where they battled organized crime domestically (this got much more common in the later shows), the premise really made no sense. When the team went on missions into enemy countries, it was at its best. I have always been a fan of "Mission: Impossible", but I am not blind to the problems the series had.
